Printing and PDF
Twain prints the rendered document, and can save it as a PDF, using the standard macOS print and save panels.
A Pro feature
Printing and PDF export are part of Twain Pro.
Printing
With a document open in a rendered view, choose File ▸ Print… (⌘P). The rendered document is sent to the standard macOS print dialog, from where you can also use Save as PDF.
Exporting a PDF directly
Choose File ▸ Export ▸ As PDF… and pick where to save. This produces a PDF of the rendered document without going through the print dialog.
How printed pages look
Twain uses print-specific styling so the output reads well on paper:
- A clean light page, regardless of the theme you read in.
- The full page width is used.
- Page breaks avoid splitting code blocks, tables, figures, callouts, and diagrams awkwardly.
- Long lines of code are wrapped so nothing is cut off at the page edge.
- For links to external pages, the URL is shown after the link text so it is not lost in print.
- Change bars from Show Changes are hidden.
Both printing and PDF export work from a rendered view; they are disabled in the raw source view.
